Yesterday I tried to use HP’s Drive Key Boot Utility to make a bootable USB flash drive with Server 2008 .  I was not successful.  I’m not exactly sure why as I’ve used it to install XP Embedded from a USB flash drive before.  Regardless I gave up and looked for another solution.   Now there are plenty of solutions floating around on the internet but all seemed to rely on a 3rd party solution for creating the boot sector.  After a bit of web sleuthing, I finally found a working solution.  Now we are happily running Server 2008!

Yes, I understand that there are easy solutions other than a bootable USB flash drive but I’m stubborn.  And this solution should allow me to get rid of a lot of disks and keep a handful of .iso files instead.  Now just to up the nerdery with a sweet Star Wars USB mod.
